The customizable foot control is equipped with a heel switch that can be programmed to perform the following tasks: raise the presser foot, cut threads, reverse stitch or single stitch. Stitch Count
Juki's HZL-DX5 comes with 185 built-in stitches, which include both decorative and utility stitches. Choose from 16 different buttonhole options and sew them out easily with the superior buttonhole sensor. The sensor automatically sizes your buttonhole to your desired button.
One Touch Buttons
The HZL-DX5 has multiple buttons to make your sewing experience easier. Use the one-touch slow/needle up/down button to raise or lower your needle. It can also be used to reduce sewing speeds. The start/stop button is excellent for free sewing without your foot control, as well as sewing buttonholes. There is also a thread trimmer button that trims both the bobbin and needle thread at the needle plate level. A few other buttons include a reverse stitch, a lock stitch, and a speed control slider.
Floating Presser Foot
Use this button to raise the presser foot slightly. This feature prevents puckering between stitch lines when sewing multiple layers of fabric. The height of the foot can be set in increments of 0.1mm and can go as high as 2.5mm.
Customizable Foot Control
The HZL-DX5 comes with a multi-function foot control. Press down with your heel to engage the programable heel switch. You can customize the heel switch to perform one of the following functions: raise the presser foot, trim threads, reverse stitch, or single stitch.
LCD Screen & Quick Access Keys
Have you ever been unsure of which presser foot to use with your selected stitch? Wonder no more! This luxury machine features on-screen presser foot recommendations. Simply select your desired stitch, and the recommended presser foot will show on the LCD screen. For your convenience, the most commonly used stitches are easily accessible on the backlit keypad. Other stitches can be accessed using the onboard stitch reference chart.
Superior Feeding System
Unlike other sewing machines which use a circular feeding motion, the HZL-DX5 uses a box feeding system. This type of feeding system provides more contact with fabric, giving you professionally finished projects.
Knee Lifter
The knee lifter lever plugs into the front of the machine. This device raises the presser foot using your knee rather than your hands. Use the knee lifter lever when sewing projects that require regular presser foot adjustments.
Easy Straight Stitch Plate Conversion
If you've ever sewn lightweight materials, then you know how useful a straight-stitch needle plate can be. This plate prevents thin fabrics from being pushed down into the needle plate while sewing. Most sewing machines offer a straight stitch needle plate that can be easily changed out with the standard plate. However, Juki's HZL-DX5 comes equipped with a built-in, straight-stitch slide plate. To sew lightweight fabrics or free-motion quilts, simply slide the straight stitch plate forward.
FREE ARM WITH BUILT-IN STORAGE
Built into the removable sewing bed is an accessory storage compartment. Store all of your presser feet, bobbins, and hand tools in this convenient space. With the auxillary bed removed, you can access the free arm. This narrow arm can be used when sewing circular areas that can be difficult to access using a flatbed machine. Hem pants, shirt sleeves, and other cylindrical textiles use this feature.
